A glimpse of the Dresden Files TV show during Sci Fi's The Triangle
Posted by iago at December 8, 2005 10:32 AM
Did you blink? You might have missed it ... but we got our first glimpse of the Dresden Files TV show in a teaser of 2006's movies and shows from the Sci Fi channel just before the second part of their Triangle miniseries. This is exciting, folks. More to the point, this is real. We're actually going to see it, and as fans of Jim's success, it's going to be on our heads to make sure this thing flies. Tell your friends. Get the buzz going early. If we're going to see this thing turn into a full-on series, we need to get the viewership out and active by the time this bad boy hits the airwaves. "But enough with the rah-rah sis-boom-bah, Fred," you say. "Show me the pictures!" Well, since you asked so nice... We got all of three seconds of this. SciFi's calming female voice says, "Solving crimes... in a magical way." and we get our glimpse. Here's the three key images we saw:
CommentsMan, this is going to be awesome! At least I hope so. At first glance on the SciFi site, Blackthorne sooo did not look like I imagined Harry would be. But these pictures sure relieved me of that worry. Now, I'm glad Marsters didn't get cast, because when the author works as hard as Butcher has to give you a mental picture of the physical appearance of a character, it's sure bad when the producers screw it up. I had my doubts, but it looks real good from here. I am so there! Posted by: Deidra at November 24, 2006 11:19 PMMan, i've been psyced about this for awhile now. I can't WAIT to see it! Posted by: Jace at September 25, 2006 04:54 PMYeh!!!!!! Heads up for Canadian fans--The Dresden Files will premiere on Canada's Space Station at the same time as the US Sci-Fi Channel, January 2007. Yippee!! ;o) Posted by: LizBear at September 8, 2006 11:44 PMMy friends and I are extremely giddy about this and are in full support for the show. I just wish they would give us a definate release date. I can't stand the wait. Posted by: Dave at August 14, 2006 06:12 PMI just read my posting and realized there were tons of spelling errors. No one lease look at that , I swear I'm normally alot smarter than that. Here is my revised posting. I starting reading these books after I ahppened to grab Dead Beats on my way out of B & N. I then read the other six books as quickly as I could get them shipped in.(Thanl goodness we get free shipping with Amazon.) I spent only a couple hours on each of them, they were so addicting I couldn't put them down. That why tonight when the comercial coame on that they were making into a show(?) I almost fell out of my chair. My brother thought I was choking because I kept hitting his leg but I can't help it I was excited. I can't wait till it premieres so I had to chare my excitement with someone. Wow, I just realized that my posting is super long. Sorry but still I'm really excited. . .o.k. I'll shut up now. . . bye! Posted by: Victoria at July 23, 2006 09:58 PMDamn, makes me wish I owned a TV. Posted by: dragan at July 23, 2006 02:17 AMNah, the brunette isn't Susan...sadly, according to the IMDB casting list on this, Susan is blonde and Murphy is brunette...the two actresses look like they were picked backwards to me, but of course I wasn't there. Looking forward to this one! Posted by: HayaBuddha at July 11, 2006 02:55 PMThis is really exciting! I don't have cable myself, but I'm going to be heading over to a friend's house to watch. (Could the brunette in the top picture be Susan, by any chance?) I just finished cajoling one of my friends into reading the series herself, and plan to spread it as far as I possibly can. : ) I'd imagined Dresden's hair as being a bit shaggier/longer than it looks in the picture, but I think that it's a great casting choice. Can hardly wait! Posted by: Arianna at July 10, 2006 01:28 AM Hells Bells!!! I had no idea the series was popular enough to get a tv series. Ive never been happier to be wrong. I have 30 pages left of Dead Beat as I type this and then on to Proven Guilty. I read about 120 scifi/suspense/horror/fantasy books in the last year and when I got Storm Front I wasn't expecting it to turn out to be my favorite series EVER! In case you didn't see this... Harry Dresden: Paul Blackthorne (think we figured that one out LOL) Lt. Murphy: Valerie Cruz Susan: Revecca McFarland Morgan: Conrad Coates Bianca: Joanne Kelly Posted by: LyssaKi at June 3, 2006 12:59 AMthere's a website for commentors of Jim Butcher's books. It's adequately named Mcanally's. If you've read any Dresden books, you know why. It's been posted that the series will air in January 2007. It'll start as a two hour premier, and supposedly the SciFi channel has agreed to film and air at least 11 episodes. I guess after that, they need to see what the numbers look like. The show is @ 1.7 mil an episode, so tell everyone you know to watch. I love these books. I'm not a big scifi person per say, but Jim Butcher has a great voice. His characters make me laugh out loud, which is funnier when I wake my husband up at 1 am cause I can't put the book down!! Posted by: christina at May 23, 2006 12:23 PMWHAT A CHARISMATIC FELLOW WITH A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. PERFECTLY CASTED! Posted by: marlyn at May 16, 2006 12:24 AMYipee-yi-yay! Luv the books. So wicked! Hehe. Posted by: junepi at April 26, 2006 02:09 PMdont read much fant.novels but read about d-files in sci-fi mag ,thought ill check it out wow!!!! glad i did, on book four now. never stop this series Posted by: jim at April 11, 2006 05:50 PMAnyone know when Sci-Fi is going to play this Movie ? Posted by: Frost at March 25, 2006 08:05 PMI was shocked when I saw the teaser for the Dresden Files as I really enjoyed the books (Yes I got hooked!!!). Suffice to say that thanks to TIVO as soon as it comes on it will be recorded (and if as good as the books - saved!) Keep writing Jim.... and thanks for the sleepless nights.... :) Posted by: Bill at March 11, 2006 07:05 PMDave, it's called "The Next Volume Gnome." It specializes in disrupting continuity. I wish we had cable. Posted by: icarus at January 21, 2006 06:02 AMcurious has there been a date set up for the show to air i'm a big fan i have the whole series and have read them 3 times each at least my favorite would have to be storm front because it introduces you to harry a regular guy who is a private detective except ................hes a wizard !!im really looking foward to the tv movie im going to buy some vhs to tape and watch over and over cant wait redmaiden_1999 here in tampa florida where it's 76 degrees today!!! Posted by: Edna at January 10, 2006 08:01 PMwoohoo! can't wait can't wait can't wait~! Posted by: Okamichan at January 9, 2006 08:33 PMHi I am SOO thrilled to see this coming out? Now I wonder - whart are the chances that we could see James Marsters as Thomas? I've always thought he would be much better suited as Thomas than Harry, type-casting aside. Hi there, just wanted to say i love the the books! And can't wait for the movie/maybeseries to come out, the photo's look ace! Just wanted to ask... Not sure yet, but it looks like this is a movie, not a series. Just went out to the Scifi channel site and it states that the Dresden Files are premiering summer 2006. Posted by: Geri at January 1, 2006 07:38 PMHello! I love the Dresden files! I was wondering, are the Dresden Files on Sci Fi going to be a tv series or a tv movie or what? I can't wait to see it! Thanks to anyone who can answer my question! Posted by: Mary at December 29, 2005 05:01 AMAnd of course - my typing sucked in that post ! Posted by: Shaun at December 25, 2005 03:10 PMI've been (and still am) looking forward to the Dresden Files on TV ... I am really glad that they have chosen Paul Blackthorne to play Harry rather than the original proposal of James Marsters. Whilst james is a very good actor - he didn't fit my mental image of Harry Dresden ... Paul Blackthorne muc better matches my own personal view of Harry ... so I now wait with bated breath ! Posted by: Shaun at December 25, 2005 03:09 PMHarry Dresden ROCKS!!! I've read the entire series twice and could certainly read it again and again! Thanks, Jim, for giving all of us such a good read and a great character in Harry...and Murphy, and Thomas, and Bob, and Mister, and Mouse and ... !!! I look foward to many more 'Files' to come!! (C: Posted by: Peterspepper at December 20, 2005 11:39 PMOf course, with my bad spelling, can you believe me? (evil grin) Posted by: Casual Imp at December 15, 2005 10:06 PMHow does this stuff get leaked to quickly? We haven't even finished shoting yet. Yes, I'm working on the project, no I'm not lying, and no, I'm not spilling the beans. But just so let you know, I've seen the storyboards and script and I really hope this series gets picked up. Posted by: Casual Imp at December 15, 2005 10:03 PMHopefully they will sell episodes on iTunes (ala Galactica)! Much easier to keep track of things that way. Posted by: Yaron at December 15, 2005 03:24 AMHave read the books as they've come out. Jim has been on my "new book-go get it-read it immediately" list. So imagine my surprise when, while watching the DVD of the Triangle I had burned (more convenient that way) when I see a (too brief) teaser for "The Dresden Files." Put a note on my Palm to keep my eyes open, come 2006. Congrats, Jim. Continued success with your books and may the Dresden files take off on SciFi. Posted by: Muldoon at December 14, 2005 01:02 PMWow! Those look great. Blackthrone IS Harry. (Sorry to James Marsters.) I agree that has to be Bianca. I hope. Anyone know if Bob is in this!? New book on Amazon!!! Called Proven Guilty. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0451460855/qid=1134433657/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/102-3881060-7321714?s=books&v=glance&n=283155 No info yet. Posted by: Jim at December 12, 2005 07:32 PMHave only just found Dresden - half way through his second volume - and I'm hooked. Was a bit cynical of the Harry - Potter - Dresden china link but after reading Storm Front realised the off-beat humouraof Jim Butcher and suddenly I'm in Dresden's world. Have just locked up -just in case. Have to say the new TV stuff looks exciting, and Paul looks the part. Can't wait. Posted by: Valerie at December 12, 2005 05:03 PMI am so excited!! I can't wait!! I'm having book withdrawls too! Posted by: Angel at December 12, 2005 09:17 AMI doubt Sci-fi in the UK will pick this up, knowing what they're like in this country. Maybe there'll be a DVD? Posted by: Daryl at December 11, 2005 03:44 PMHave to say Paul looks the part. Does anyone know if we're actually gonna get to see it in England? Posted by: Rachel at December 9, 2005 05:49 AMIs there an actual set date for when sci fi will show it. I want to make sure I'm not working that night, so I can see it. Posted by: Crystal at December 8, 2005 10:11 PM*squeaks* Is it 2006 yet? Paul looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see him in action. As for the last screencap, I see a saddle and a tiki torch. If those are weapons on the red wall, they're keeping strange company. Posted by: Priscellie at December 8, 2005 09:49 PMPost a comment |
This show is the best out of all of the SciFi channel shows I've seen. Paul Blackthorne as Harry Dresden is the best actor and he has the looks for the role. I give this show 20 stars out of 10.
