White Night in NYT's top 5!
Posted by priscellie at April 16, 2007 11:56 PM
Jim's books continue to grow in popularity! WHITE NIGHT is currently #4 in Hardcover Fiction on Publishers Weekly and #5 on the New York Times Bestseller list, as well as #17 on USA Today. Want those numbers in context? Compare them with PROVEN GUILTY, which reached #21 on the New York Times Bestseller List and #91 on the USA Today List last year. Jim largely credits the TV series for effectively tripling his sales: the hardback edition of PROVEN GUILTY had an initial print run of 35,000, whereas WHITE NIGHT's initial run was 100,000. Grab a festive hat, because it's party time! CommentsJim, I've read all of your books, including White Night (purchased AND read yesterday to completion) and wanted to say that I can't wait for the next Harry Dresden adventure. What Rowling did for kids, you've done for adults. Posted by: Drew at June 1, 2007 09:12 AMJim, I had never heard of Dresden untill I saw the show and when my husband baught the books through SCi Fi BC I thought Okay...then I started to read them and got done with the first one before a week was out (first three HD's) I more than enjoy your writing. I love it, It is like being able to get in someone elses head and root around. The way that you blend modern Wicca and High magical practice and theory into fiction is wonderful, and refreshingly accurate. Hubby found the rest of your books and I finished White Knight today. Sci Fi has not lived up to the books. I don't think that they ever could. Keep up the good Work! It's wonderful to see true talent be noticed & appreciated! I'm 1/2 way through reading the series for the 2nd time - something I don't usually do so soon - & am enjoying it as much if not more than the 1st read! THANK YOU for hours of reading pleasure!!! I'm hooked and impatiently waiting to find out what kind of trouble Harry will get himself into next. My husband and I have to flip for who gets to read the latest book first. Thanks. It's nice to be surprised. Posted by: Jetta at May 14, 2007 04:14 PMOMG i love your series i practice magic myself and find it very accurate at least in ritual cases keep up the book and please keep harry sarcastic Posted by: mohale at May 3, 2007 02:32 PMThank you Jim for such a great series. Each book just gets better. I ordered an autographed book of White Night from Dog-Eared Books and I feel like I own a Piccaso! I hope this continues to be available for future books. I also enjoy the art work for the jacket covers and hope the same artist will continue to be used. Again, thank you for such good books and writing them in a timely manner. There is never too long a wait. Posted by: Jerry at May 2, 2007 01:14 AMThis is another great Harry Dresden book. I never pre-order books but any book by Jim Butcher is waited for with bated breath. Each book get better and better. Hope he writes another Alera book. Posted by: Ingrid at May 1, 2007 02:52 PMI would just like to thank Mr. Butcher for another fine installment to the Dresden Files series. I typically am not one to pre-order a book but I couldn't resist having WHITE NIGHT in my hands the day it was released. I thoroughly enjoy the TV Series and I'm hoping that the SciFi Network doesn't have a brain fart. As a fan I just have to say that I can't get enough of the Dresden Files and I can't wait for the next book! Posted by: Adam Beamer at April 27, 2007 09:38 PMI love the books and the tv show too. Can't wait to read all of them. Don't stop writing them I couldn't stand it if you did. I love them. Posted by: Cheryl at April 27, 2007 01:44 AMI just wanted to say I've been hooked since first reading dead beat and then going back and reading the rest of the dresden files. And now I'm reading the codex alera which is every bit as good.Keep up the good work and even though the tv series has gotten you more exposure it won't ever be as great as the books Posted by: Joshua Basco at April 26, 2007 02:30 PMGreat job on the series Jim. As a librarian who discovered the series about the time Grave Peril came out I am always pushing it. My library has each book and they are hardly ever on the shelves. The best part of being a librarian is getting the book as soon as it is released. Can't wait for more. Congratulations on an awesome book and a thoroughly enjoyable series. Each one is a thrilling read, and exceptionally hard to put down - i still haven't come across a scenario which has made me! Posted by: Alex at April 22, 2007 01:49 PMCongratulations, Jim! This is probably the most well-constructed series that I have ever read. White Night is fantastic! I love the fact that the characters keep growing and the plot continues to thicken, keeping everyone turning pages. This series as well as Codex Alera is a driving force behind my insomnia. Keep 'em coming! Please! Posted by: Jessi at April 22, 2007 01:19 AMCongrats Jim. You and Harry deserve it! I was just browsing Barnes and Noble's Bestselling Sci-fi/Fantasy Fiction listings looking for my next lunch-time reading and I couldn't help but notice that THREE of the Dresden Files made the Top 20...with the rest filling out the Top 50!!! And when I poked my nose into B&N the day before White Knight was to be released (hoping someone put it out early- no such luck) I overheard that they had sold out of Storm Front...AGAIN! I'm glad that so many more people have found you and Harry. I hope you get a royalty check which reflects this greatly increased readership.... Posted by: Chris at April 21, 2007 06:54 AMcongradulations -- i was lucky , i had just found your series last year so i could just keep reading at the way through , bought white nights the day it hit the stores ! it was wonderful , when is the next book coming out? oh well , ill just reread everything and find new things in the books the second time around - thanks Posted by: ron at April 21, 2007 02:19 AMThis book was so good I'm going to see if I can get a poster made of the cover and put it in my room, Would that be in anyway copywright infringment, Posted by: Rem at April 20, 2007 11:27 AMCongrats on a well deserved jump in sales and a more realistic placing on the best seller lists. May it only get better! It has been a pleasure to watch you grow as a writer from book to book as Harry has grown as a wizard. Posted by: val at April 19, 2007 11:14 PMJim, Enjoying the books more and more. The last three have been the best of the bunch. Congratulations on your top 5 on the NYtimes. Hopefully this means we can expect about 10 more titles?? : ) You rock! All the best to you Jim, as always the book was fabulous. Harry is growing as a wizard and his world is evolving with all sorts of secrets and suprises. I intended to slow down and take 5 days to read the book instead of the 3 it normally takes. Unfortunately I couldn't help myself and read it in 24hrs. I was reading the Lake Michigan battle at 4AM and didn't even feel tired, I was too pumped up. I guess I'm not really surprised your books are doing so well. Your story has a universal apppeal that everyone is drawn to and a hero you can't not relate too. Keep them coming and I'll keep reading them. Posted by: cathy s at April 18, 2007 06:21 PMCongrats, Jim! I fully expect to see the next book at #1! Posted by: Jean at April 18, 2007 05:41 PMCongrats!! My festive hat is a tiara :-) This is so exciting, I can't wait until the day he debuts at number 1! Posted by: Deb at April 17, 2007 09:48 PMWell-deserved congrats. Alright Jim! White Knight is everything I wanted it to be, and believe me, I was at Barnes & Noble waiting when the shipment arrived. Harry is such good company, I find myself wondering how he is and what he's up to between books. Is this as sick and twisted as it sounds? Posted by: Jennifer M at April 17, 2007 08:23 PMWoo Hoo! That is awesome news! Another of my favorite authors is finally getting what they really deserve! Go Jim! You trully rock! I know the numbers will just keep getting better with each book! Posted by: Kim at April 17, 2007 08:30 AMCongratulations to Jim! May there be many more Dresden Files novels to come, and may they each debut at #1 on the NYT list from here on out. I ordered White Knight and preordered Small Favor. What sold me on buying the hardcovers as opposed to the paperbacks was the price that Amazon.com is selling them for. Normally, the price is too expensive for me but they are selling them for the price of a trade paperback. Yea! I have the first eight and am avidly reading them. Go, go, go, Jim!
