Discuss this on the forum here. CommentsThis was one of the best sci-fi series I have ever read. I truly hope that Mr. Butcher will continue this series. I couldn't wait for this last installment, but at the same time was sad to finish it. Please continue more with this world. It is fantastic! Posted by: Jo2 at December 10, 2009 12:11 PMLoved the series have spent many a night, up late reading and rereading the series. I hope to see it continued in the future. Or possibly see Alera again from another perspective. Posted by: Erick at December 9, 2009 11:08 PMThis has been the best series I've ever read in my life. I loved every book including the epic finale. My brother in-law introduced me to Sci-Fi and now I can't get enough. I've just gotta have more cowbell, and more Jim Butcher. Anxiously awaiting the next Dresden File, I have enjoyed these books immensely - one of my all-time favorite series! I'm saddened that this is the last installment, but as it's somewhat open-ended, I'm hoping you decide to eventually add to it! I'll look forward to that possibility! :-) P.S. - I'd love to see Peter Jackson direct some movies based on these books!!! :-) Posted by: Jo at December 8, 2009 12:38 PMJim, this is one of the best series I've ever read and u have ended it so well, can't think of any other series ending to match this. Thank you for the showing us another world, which we all loved to live in. Continue sharing u'r imagination with us :) Looking forward for more ! Posted by: Voyager at December 5, 2009 10:08 AMWhat the last book! T.T Not that I'm an expert (and I hate to nitpick) but...aren't Legion shields sort of rectangular? Never-the-less, it's a pretty sweet piece of art. Posted by: Kevin at October 26, 2009 04:18 PMWOT is The Wheel of Time. It is a fantasy series by the late Robert Jordan. It is being finished by Brandon Sanderson, and the first book by him is due out Oct 27th Posted by: Bobby at October 16, 2009 08:10 PMWhat is WoT? Posted by: zulu at October 14, 2009 10:53 AMJimmy, How can you possibly wrap it up with only one book?? You still have to deal with the Icemen, the Vord, the Aquitaines and the plotters who killed Sept. But then again guess that will leave more time for Dresden?? Zolardo Posted by: Zolardo at October 8, 2009 02:57 AM@ Ed This series in no way comes close to dethroning WoT The series is very enjoyable, even though its a bit short. Posted by: anon at September 27, 2009 10:42 PMMr. Butcher I am sad to see your ending the series. I really enjoyed these books and hope you do more with them and expand on this universe. Thanks for the great books, Michael Posted by: Michael L. Sawyer at September 20, 2009 04:02 PMNoooo! This can not be the last in the series! I demand more! HAHA Not sure how this series could go on without Tavi, but maybe something in the same universe at least? Posted by: Shaon94 at September 8, 2009 01:52 AMFor the Romans, the gladius was worn on the right hip and the spatha was worn on the left. Everyone did it the same as all soldiers were trained the same. I kind of like that the artist paid attention (or was directed on) to this little detail. Some of us are nuts about that sort of thing. :) Posted by: Mark at September 6, 2009 07:57 AMisn't that sheath on his right hip the sheath for his short sword? doesn't he wear a regular sword on his right and a short on his left? Posted by: weirdo326 at September 4, 2009 06:55 AMNo way, to think it will be the last book!! An awesome series like that! Posted by: max at August 30, 2009 06:30 PMfor of those wondering about the sheath being on the right hip heres the answer.... if it was on the left hip it would interfere with the shield Posted by: Richard at August 25, 2009 02:38 AMAwesome series!!!!! I'm eagerly waiting for both books, Codex Alera Bk 6 and Dresden's book 11. When will chapter 1 be posted for Codex Alera bk 6. I check qd for a pick of Tavi and friends. Posted by: Cosalinda at August 22, 2009 02:02 PM 'my understanding"vague as it is"' good god people! I just read the series and can't wait for the next book to come out... It is plausable that the artist just wanted to be able to show the sheath... And as for the vord and the cane, they probalbly left them out of the cover art so as not to ruin anyones imagiation of what they look like and the alreans in the cover could be taken or part of the first alrean legion who knows... Just can't wait to read the book Posted by: Wes at July 18, 2009 08:54 PMI just read the codex Alera this week for the first time. What a ride! I have been following the Dresden files for awhile and decided to give it a try. For the last five days my family hasn't been very happy with me but I just couldn't put them down :) I now have the First Lord wallpaper and Have pre-ordered the book and and in the midst of a serious case of withdraw someone help me please!!!!!!!! Seriously Jim Butcher has be one of the best authors out their. The Wheel of Time has been dethroned. Posted by: ED at July 9, 2009 11:32 AMI just took a closer look at the cover and did anyone else notice that there are no Vord or Canin on the cover. It looks like its Aleran vs Aleran. One other thing, why is her wearing sandles and not legion boots? Seems like a bad idea to be walking around fire with sandles on. Posted by: Ray at July 7, 2009 10:03 PMDoes anyone else wish they could see the rest of the cast besides just "Tavi"? I know Dresden just came out with a graphic novel think there will be a Codex of Alera grafic novel or maybe even a video game? Posted by: Ray at July 7, 2009 09:53 PMGood lordy. Are you really going to pick apart the cover art? For pity sake just read the book and enjoy it! :-) Posted by: scott at July 6, 2009 09:52 PMMy understanding (vague as it is) is that only Centurions wore their gladius on the left, the scutum (shield) interfered with a legionarre drawing from left to right. Since a Centurion fought ahead or behind the front rankers, they wore the gladius on the left (it eventually became an identifier)... Tavi as a Legate or General would have worn his sword on the right... Posted by: Joe at July 5, 2009 12:26 PMThe Gladius was worn on the right hip, since it was so short it was easier to draw like a knife rather than a longer blade. looking forward to the book. Ordered it months ago! Will re-read the series between now and then to make sure I have all the pertinent information. Why is his sheath on his right hip? Posted by: malette at June 30, 2009 01:11 AMThe cover is perfect! I have been ready to change Post a comment |
I just finished First Lord's Fury and didn't see the title of the next book in the series! Extremely sad to see the end of such a great story. At least I have the next installment of the Dresden Files to look forward to. Also, I'd like to thank Mr. Butcher for the note thanking our soldiers.
