April Fool’s Roundup and Schedule Updates

We hope you all had a fun and safe April Fool’s Day! Unfortunately, we weren’t able to put together our own prank in time (Priscilla writes them each year, and this year she was maid of honor for her sister’s wedding), but here’s a compilation of our previous goofs:

2016 — Dresden Files Special Edition
2015 — Dresden Novels on Hiatus
2014 — Dresden Files coming to Broadway
2012 — Bigfoot Paranormal Romance
2011 — Fool Moon comic reboot and Li’l Harry Adventures

Also, we have a few updates to our last post on Jim’s 2017 schedule!

Not sure how we got our wires crossed, but the Friends of the Library meeting later this month is open to all! They say, “The Friends are encouraging the public to attend Thursday’s event. It is free and open to the public, and we really hope for a huge turn-out. When Jim was here previously, we had folks from several states away attend. A real thrill for us! Our whole idea with these events is to raise awareness of our library and of authors with Missouri connections, so the more the merrier!” Come one, come all!

Next, we were told the wrong location for Fried Pie Con. As some of you may noticed, there is no Books-A-Million in that area! The correct store name is Charles & 2nd, but the address is still the same: 1 W Flatiron Crossing Dr., Ste 332, Broomfield, CO 80021.

Also, we can finally announce Jim’s Top Secret September Con Event: Jim will be returning to DragonCon! DragonCon is held Labor Day Weekend, September 1st-4th. We don’t have his full schedule yet, but he will definitely have a signing at the Badali Jewelry booth. He will also have signings with Badali at Phoenix Comicon and Salt Lake City Comicon.

Hope to see you!

New Events and Cage Match!

Two new bits of news today!

First, Harry has been cleaning up the Nevernever in Unbound Worlds’ 2016 Fantasy Cage Match, but he’s starting to lose his early lead in his matchup with Devi of Pat Rothfuss’ The Kingkiller Chronicle. We know there’s a lot of overlap in Jim and Pat’s fandoms (plus a lot of mutual admiration between the two authors), so competition should be fierce. Cast your vote for whichever character you think should win, and have fun!

You can also cast a ballot in matchups between Tom Bombadill (JRR Tolkien) and Mr. Wednesday (Neil Gaiman), Ragnar Volarus (Pierce Brown) and Kell Maresh (V.E. Schwab), and Georgia Mason (Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire) and Suri (Michael J Sullivan).

If you want to make your voice heard, act fast! This round ends midnight tonight on the west coast.

Second, we have new 2017 events to announce! Here’s Jim’s full travel schedule for the year, as it currently stands.

This is an in-store comic book con where Jim will be signing comics.

2208 Bernadette Dr
Columbia, MO

5/12/17-5/14/17:

Jim’s assistant wishes us to announce that Jim’s 2017 and 2018 calendars are currently filled, but invitations for 2019 may still be sent. Check our FAQ for details.

Two Dresden Files Games On Preorder Now, Shipping In June

Game publisher Evil Hat Productions is currently running a preorder for Dresden Files Accelerated, as well as for The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game (along with three expansions and the opportunity to purchase the bonus and variant card decks previously available only to the Kickstarter backers). Both games will ship in June, and those who preorder Dresden Files Accelerated will get exclusive early access to an electronic PDF of the RPG as soon as payment clears. You can learn more about both games at the links found below!

New Dates and Special Editions

We have release dates for you! Not the one you’ve been hounding us for (Jim is still writing Peace Talks–no ETA), but for some great projects that will help ease the wait.

First, Subterranean Press’ illustrated special edition of Small Favor is in stock and shipping. They still have a few copies of their Limited Edition up for grabs, so act fast!

We’d announced previously that the Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game is slated for March 2017, but now that it’s right around the corner, we figured a reminder couldn’t hurt! Grab some friends and answer the ultimate what-if scenario: what if Harry was on the scene with allies who weren’t there in the original story? Pre-order it through your favorite local independent gaming store!

UPDATE: Evil Hat has contacted us to let us know that the game is shipping to Kickstarter backers in March, and starts its public preorder on their website in a few weeks, but it does not actually release to game stores until June.

Next, in June, Shawn Speakman is publishing a gorgeous special edition of the Shadowed Souls anthology, featuring the Molly-POV story “Cold Case,” about her first mission in her new role post-Cold Days. And if those special editions are a bit beyond the budget, you can still buy a print of Chris McGrath’s riveting cover art from his website.

Then get excited, because Straight Outta Tombstone, the David Boop anthology featuring Jim’s story “A Fistful of Warlocks,” hits stores July 4th. Luccio fighting necromancers in the Wild West? Yes, please.

July should also see the release of The Dresden Files Accelerated RPG (aka DFAE), which merges the wizardly awesomeness of the Dresden Files RPG with the sleek, story-based, rules-lite Fate Accelerated system.

Also upcoming:

The next comic, Dog Man, is now in the script phase. It will be adapted by Mark Powers and pencilled by Diego Galindo. No release date yet.

“Small Problems”, a short story for Larry Correia and Bryan Thomas Schmidt’s upcoming Monster Hunter International anthology. Due out some time in 2017.

Enjoy! As always, you can consult our Upcoming Works page for all your release date-related needs. Bring on 2017!
