MALCon and More!

We have a lot to report on today, including this weekend’s convention schedule!

COMING SOON

Need to satisfy your Dresden fix? Issue 5 (of 6) of Wild Card comes out Wednesday the 17th, so why not use this weekend to catch up? This original comic pits Harry against the evil Puck, who is less of a “good fellow” than Shakespeare would have you believe.

Jim has also been rocking out a number of short stories, to be released in the coming months. “Day One,” a Butters-POV short story set after Skin Game, comes out this November in Shawn Speakman’s Unfettered II anthology.  Preorder your hardcover copy today, or snag the e-text closer to the release date.  He also finished a new Luccio-POV short story, “A Fistful of Warlocks,” for David Boop’s fantastical Old West anthology Straight Outta Tombstone. Release date TBA.  He also contributed a short story to Larry Correia’s Monster Hunter International anthology, which is due out in 2017.

Beyond that, he continues to work on Peace Talks.  As always, you can check the status of his various projects on Jim’s Upcoming Works page.

ALERA AUDIO GOES INTERNATIONAL

At long last, the Codex Alera audiobooks are being released in the UK and Commonwealth territories!  Starting this month, fans overseas can get swept up in the same riveting performance from Kate Reading as their American counterparts.  Orbit UK will be releasing one book per month, starting on August 25 with Furies of Calderon.  Enjoy!

SUBTERRANTEAN PRESS ASK A SMALL FAVOR

Subterranean Press have opened preorders for their signed limited edition of Small Favor, book ten of the Dresden Files.  They’ve set aside copies for regular buyers of the series, but have enough copies so that anyone may order a copy at this time. If you’re of a mind, there’s also an option to pick up the last couple of volumes (Proven Guilty and White Night) at a special price.  The folks at SubPress use an upgraded paper for the books, along with a full color dust jacket and b&w interior illustrations by Vincent Chong.

ROUND ONE, FIGHT!

Jim will be a guest at Authors Combat Academy 2017! Author Christine Haggerty summarizes: “What is the Authors Combat Academy? It is THE authority on writing and fighting. This is not a conference for authors made up of panels with other authors. This is where you learn the nitty gritty facts from real crime scene investigators, cops, military professionals, and…(drum roll, please)…rental ninjas. Yes, I said ‘rental ninjas.’ These black belt and fighting professionals are available to fight through your scene or concept and give you a realistic sequence of action and all the words to write it.”
