Free Buttons and Preorder Mania

Today we have just a few quick items for you, including some exciting news about some “preorderables” on the horizon.
Free Buttons
Jim’s handing out some free buttons (great for wearing to conventions) with various quotes from the Dresden Files book series on ’em! All it takes is a self-addressed stamped envelope with $0.56 postage on it, which you can send to the following address:
Jim Butcher Buttons
P.O. Box 185
Effingham, KS 66023

This offer is good while supplies last. Send no money and affix all postage (56 cents) to the return envelope!
Season 1 DVD is on Preorder
Amazon.com has the first season available for $27.99 (last we checked), to be shipped august 7, 2007. For everyone who’s been hoarding the season on their TiVo’s (like me) this is your way to finally free up some of that precious DVR recording space!

Early Dresden Books in Hardcover
The earlier Dresden Files books are starting to show up on Amazon in pre-orderable hardcover form. This bodes well for hardcover-philes who are looking to build up their durable Dresden collection!
Storm Front: Preorder!
Fool Moon: Preorder!
Also recall that libraries are more inclined to stock and shelve hardcovers than they are paperbacks — so this is a great chance for local libraries to start carrying the Dresden Files in a form that will survive the wear-and-tear of frequent check-outs!
Captain’s Fury – Description and Preorder
We have a description for Captain’s Fury finally, along with the ability to preorder that book too.
Read about it here.

  1. Very excited about everything! The buttons, the Season 1 DVDs, and early Dresden Files in hardcover, simple spectacular! I haven’t read far enough to be excited about Captain’s Fury yet, but soon i will be…..
    Huzzah for Dresden/Alera!

  2. Ditto! I have already ordered Small Favor and Captain’s
Fury for April 2008…I am going right now to my mailbox….I have the season on I-tunes but I still want the DVDs….I am glad I check this web-site everyday!

  3. your postage for the buttons can’t be right. I am a postal worker, for a 1oz odd size due to thickness is .58 cents which is 41 cents plus .17 cents surcharge.

  4. *smacks self in forehead* Of course the earlier books are coming out in hardback now. I’ve already bought the Omnibus editions for SFBC and donated them to my local library. *rolls eyes and sighs* Eh, well…at least the library has them now, and they’re out constantly. *chuckles evilly and rubs hands together* I am such a crack pusher!
As for the DVDs, I’ve got them on pre-order. And speaking of “The Dresden Files” TV series, now that the producers of “Battlestar Galactica” have canceled the show, hopefully Skiffy will pick TDF back up! *crosses everything that will cross*

  5. WHEN I STARTED A FAMILY 23 YEARS AGO, I THOUGHT I LOST MY LOVE FOR READING. MY FOUR CHILDREN, THROUGH THEIR LOVE OF READING AND THEIR FAVORITE YOUNG WIZARD, “HARRY POTTER”, MADE ME REALIZE MY LOVE OF READING WAS NEVER LOST, BUT MISPLACED FOR A WHILE. I AM A FAN OF CLASSIC TV, BUT ALSO LOVE SHOWS SUCH AS “CHARMED”. WHEN I HEARD IT WAS ENDING, I HOPED FOR ANOTHER SERIES I COULD ATTACH MYSELF TO. I KNEW WHEN I SAW THE FIRST COMMERCIAL FOR “DRESDEN FILES”, THAT THIS WOULD BE THE SHOW. I TOOK A CHANCE THAT THERE MAY BE NOVELS BASED ON THE SHOW SINCE MANY POPULAR PROGRAMS HAD THEIR OWN NOVELS. I WAS OVERJOYED TO SEE THE BOOKS EXISTED. I HAVE ALL AVAILABLE BOOKS IN PAPERBACK AND HARDBACK AS WELL, AND HAVE PRE-ORDERED THE UPCOMING RELEASES, NOT ONLY IN THE DRESDEN FILE SERIES, BUT ALSO CODEX ALERA. I AM 47 YEARS OLD AND I AM NOT ASHAMED TO SAY I LOVE THESE BOOKS. IMAGINATION IS A PRICELESS QUALITY WE ALL SHARE. THANK-YOU JIM BUTCHER FOR SHARING YOUR IMAGINATION WITH US SO WE MAY ALL TRAVEL WITH YOU ON YOUR MAGICAL JOURNEY. I HAVE ALREADY PRE-ORDERED THE SEASON ON DVD, AND EVEN THOUGH THE SHOW PRESENTS BOB DIFFERENTLY THAN THE BOOK, I THINK THE TV BOB IS “HOT”.
SERIOUSLY THOUGH, I WISH YOU ALL THE LUCK IN THE WORLD AND THANK-YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR SHARING YOURSELF WITH US AND A SPECIAL THANK-YOU TO YOUR FAMILY TO SHARE YOU WITH US.

  6. I just received my free button today! I was so thrilled! I got one that says “Hell’s Bells.” ^_^

  7. I agree with Cheryl’s comments; I have seen the television show and have 3 Dresden books on order. Very glad to hear Season 1 will be released on DVD — it’s a MUST! Truly hope ScFi Channel will renew Harry — I spoke up in favor. My SASE is on it’s way (w/.60 postage) — hope I’m not too late. In New Jersey.

  8. Feeling very sad and left out here in Oz!!! No news on when the show is hitting SciFi over here, no buttons….and no release date for DVDs in region 4 🙁 *wishes for a spell to fix all that is wrong with the world*

  9. I just found the site and I have to say that Jim has fast become one of my all time favourite authors! I have never laughed out loud so many time while reading anyone as much as I do him!
    He totally ROCKS!!

  10. deepdiscount.com has the DVD available for preorder for $27.89 with free shipping.

  11. I found the TV show just flipping through stations and had to stop and check it out. I absolutely love Harry Dresden and have all of the books now. But I must say this the Codex Alera is siome of the best fantasy fiction I have ever read and I am a VORACIOUS fantasy fiction reader! I have managed to finish about 10+ books in the last month (I have a job, kids, husband, house, etc…). The magical system in both series is very, very well thought out and I could find no inconsistencies throughout the books. It is the sign of a true vituoso that you can maintain EVERY detail through a long series of books.
Jim is now in my top 3 of favortie writers of all time, Raymond E. Feist, J.K Rowling and Jim Butcher. You’re awesome and insipiring and I can hardly wait for the Captain’s Fury in Dec! 2 days after my 36 birthday 🙂 Keep on, keepin on brother!

  12. Six books in two months. That’s a record for me! Now I’m on book seven. It all started as a diversion before going into the hospital. Now I’m out, healed, and STILL reading!! Thanks, Harry Dresden, for being the wizard you are and thanks, Jim Butcher, for creating him!
    Many Blessings,
    Lilyth

  13. I just finished Death Masks, and am starting the next one. I got my boyfriend AND my mother hooked to Dresden Files, and my boyfriend started reading the first Codex series about a week ago. With taking me to rehearsals, and working at home, he’s finished all three books, and dying to get the next one.
🙂 Keep writing; you’re the best writer I’ve found.

  14. I was just wondering if there were any buttons left… And if the offer applies to overseas readers too…
Unfortunately I haven’t got a clue on how much the postage to Finland is 🙁

  16. I got the entire Dresden Files set of books already and requested buttons, the first batch were lost/stolen and all I received was an empty envelope. So I tried again and got “are you selling me on ebay?” and my favourite “Harry, what you know about women, I could juggle”. I am happy now. I live in the UK. Is the DVD coming out in Europe?

  17. A friend gave me the first season of the Dresden Files which naturally led me to the books. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have found them. How wonderful to read something in this vein where the author doesn’t have some kooky ax they keep grinding over and over or the story seems to be written for 12 year old my pretty pony fans.
Have you ever considered writing a single book from someone else’s POV? I’d love to see for an entire story what Murphy for example thinks of Dresden and his abilities. Or Molly. Now that would be fun…
The darker they get, the better I likes ’em.
thank you, thank you, thank you.

  18. I had seen the books at a variety of bookstores, but it hadn’t really grabbed me, until I spoke with my son. He had read the Dresden series and said it was pretty good.
I picked up my first and I was hooked. I completed the series (to date) in about 5 weeks. (I occasionally had to sleep and go to work.) I can’t think of an ensemble of characters I’ve enjoyed more. Where else could I possible go to find a side kick like Bob.
