  1. I have to thirtysecond the feelings of those who posted before me. I have not read any of your books until I found this series. Now I am hooked. I find myself reliving the books in my mind repeatedly. You have moved into my personal top 5 favorite authors. I only hope that you find more time to devote to this series. Good luck!

  2. I love this series.. It’s amazing.. I hope your able to write the fourth one fast..

  3. After waiting for months for this book to come out, I bought it and finished it in less then half a day. Then, at the end of the Epilogue, i jumped off my bed and pranced around my room at 3:17 AM, clutching the book and squealing. To call this book an extraordinary read; written masterfully with a clever and fast paced plot AND some of the best characters I have ever managed to come across…Would be doing it an injustice. I am an enormous fan as always, and my months of roaring anticipation were met, and their expectations exceeded as usual. This book is just another excellent example of why Jim is absolutely my favorite author. I restrain from explosion as I wait until April, and I wait again however many more months it is until Captain’s Fury comes out. Outstanding as usual Jim, to put it lightly.

  4. You’re impossible, Jim. There’s not a single other author I enjoy reading more. In both of your series you have made me laugh, cry, shout with rage, and dance with joy. I’ve been close to Tavi’s age when each of these books came out, and he started as someone I felt I could be and has now become someone I wish I could be.
Thank you for writing these books, Mr. Butcher. I hope to one day become half the author you are.

  5. please for the love of god…. hurry and write captains fury! Cursors fury was INCREDIBLE… and I cannot wait for book 4!
though I have white knight to look forward too.

  6. Jim,
I love the Codex Alera series. I am a big fantasy reader and you are one of the best. Please write faster I don’t know how many times I will re-read the first three books before the next comes out, but I will enjoy the re-reading them as much as I enjoyed the first read of them. Thank you for bringing us this world you have made.

  7. On the one hand I am extatic that there are more coming. On the other hand, I can’t stand waiting between books!
    AAAAAAAARGH!

  8. Write captain’s Fury as fast as you can without making it worse than it would have been if you took your time( to sum it all up make it good and make it fast but good being the most important)

  10. I LOVE Cursor’s Fury it is awesome I can’t wait for another book in the series. I love all of the characters. Jim you are my favorite writter each book (in both series) just gets better and better! Keep up the good work and I am so happy that we can look forward to more Codex Alera books! Hopefully there will be tons more Codex Alera books!

  11. at first i was skeptical about the codex alera series. i figured harry dresden was so good, that it couldn’t be topped. but boy, oh boy, the alera books have become my crack addiction and i’m just looking for my next fix.
    keep writing.

  12. The comments listed above should be enough but I still feel I have to add my thoughts as well. the series are amazing, the characters are amongst the best written I have ever come accross, and I read a lot, and the writing style it self is so fluid and enrapturing that is definitely hard to put these books down without finishing them first (I know I dont). I find myself starting to hate Jim just a little bit because so few of the books I read now can compete any where close to his league. I still, however, recommend him to anyone I know who likes to read, whether or not they like this genre – thats just how good Jim Butcher is at what he does.

  13. Got the first two Alera books for Christmas. I’m a die-hard Dresden fan, and my fiance paid attention, and got me the fantasy series in paperback. I LOVE it. One of the best secondary worlds I’ve read in a long time. Riveting! And unlike most fantasy authors, Jim, you’ve managed to make your characters incomparably real. Can’t wait to read the next, and the next, and the next.

  14. Jim, This is the first of any books of yours that I have read, but I enjoyed them so much I am considering the Dresden files as a new series to begin reading. If it is half as good as the Alera Codex I’m sure I will enjoy them just as much.

  15. i have been inlove with this story from the first time i picked up the first book! i really hope that captains fury and the books to follow are out soon! make ’07 a BIG year!

  16. I’ve just finished book 3 of the Codex Alera, When is the next one Published???
    Cant wait!!

  17. I picked up one of the Dresden books years ago and liked it. So I got the others that were out at the time. It is a good series. But when I picked up Furies of Calderon, I was completely blown away. So much so that in the long wait between books 2 and 3 I refused to reread them because it just made me long for the third one more. So when my mom mentioned she had picked it up at the library (I lost track of the year and hadn’t realized it was out) I was thrilled. I got all three, and started reading the first around 6pm yesterday. It is now 7:30 am, and I have finished them. And all I can say is: Curse You, Jim!!! You are an evil man for creating such a fascinating world, and then taking so long to write each book!! To be honest, as far as I’m concerned, the Dresden books can go hang. I need book 4!!!!!!

  18. I haev been reading Jim Butcher for YEARS, I love Harry and I thought that series was one of the best out there, that is until i picked up the first book in Codex Alera. This series has heart and drama and joy and pain and humanity. Thank you Jim for bring such a wonderful world to life and sharing it with all of us. Now hurry up and write Captain’s Fury or I may just explode with waiting!!!!!!!

  20. First let me say that the Dresden Files are my favorite books. I read the Alera series out of curiosity. I figured that any book created by the same writer that created Harry would be worth the read. The Alera series was good…but the latest one was awesome. I enjoyed Cursor’s Fury more than the first two. The action just never stopped and I thought there was more humor in it. I loved it.
