FLF a bestseller, plus the skinny on Changes!

First Lord’s Fury is #7 on the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list! Congratulations, Jim!
If you haven’t bought your copy yet, you can order one through the Jim-Butcher.com Store.
Jim is currently working on Changes, book 12 in the #1 New York Times bestselling Dresden Files series, which promises to be a game changer:

Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry Dresden’s lover-until she was attacked by his enemies, leaving her torn between her own humanity and the bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. Susan then disappeared to South America, where she could fight both her savage gift and those who cursed her with it.
Now Arianna Ortega, Duchess of the Red Court, has discovered a secret Susan has long kept, and she plans to use it-against Harry. To prevail this time, he may have no choice but to embrace the raging fury of his own untapped dark power. Because Harry’s not fighting to save the world…
He’s fighting to save his child.

Changes is due out April 6th, 2010. You can preorder it in hardback and audio formats (read by James Marsters) at the Jim-Butcher.com store.

  1. Im starting to hate Jim he drop’s this information 4 and a half month’s before the release the wait might kill me

  2. We’ve known this for a while, a few months ago Jim put out the first sentence of the book and while I don’t remember the exact quote, it was something about Harry picking up the phone and Susan saying “they have our daughter,” or something like that.

  3. I am so excited by this i can’t tell you! Totally agree with Jeffrey, i need to read this now. Going to be so good to have the Vampires back in the story line again 🙂

  4. Does this mean we will get 2 Dresden Files a year or will there be another series?

  5. I am excited and worried. There are a lot of authors who ruin series when babies arrive. To be honest, magic, murder, mayhem, and mystery do not mix well with pablum, pampers, and binkies. Here’s hoping JB can pull it off.

  6. I just loved all the books and can’t wait until the next one. One of my children passed away in Oct. and it helped to have the books to read and keep my mind busy. The humor is the best, Harry is great!beckyd

  7. I…am so exited that I can barely type this sentence. Must find a way to make time move faster so april comes sooner!

  8. Eh… I love the Dresden files and Jim’s an amazing author (who I wish would come to dragon*con once in a while cough cough hint hint) but being a college student, I’m afraid Harry having a daughter will make me less able to relate to it. Here’s to him pulling it off!

  9. I have faith in you. I’m sure you read and watch plenty of genre fiction where the protagonists don’t closely match who you are and yet still manage to enjoy them! 🙂

  10. …..dresden with a child??? i mean were talking half vampire, half human, all wizard, all smartmouthed scion of dooooom here!

  11. Knew it. Now the question is—Prescillie, goddess of the time line. How old does that make his child? Any hints if we should use blue or pink ribbons on the gifts?

  12. I can’t decide whether I’m excited about Harry having a kid or not. And a daughter!– poor Harry, his trouble with women never ends.

  13. Jim Butcher launched my interest in urban fantasy, and I got to say, he’s still the best I’ve read in the genre.
Can’t wait for Changes to come out. Harry has a child? The story isn’t going to take place in Chicago!?! It sounds awesome. Can’t wait, Jim.

  14. Hell’s Bells!!!!!!! Things just keep more and more interesting in Harry’s life! I can’t wait for Changes to come out!!

  15. Been an reader of Jim’s since Dresden #1 came out. Loved the Alera series and hope a sequel to it happens someday.
Jim’s skill as a writer has improved with every book he has written. A lot of other authors have come out with similar characters to Harry Dresden but Jim’s books are still the best and always getting better. Looking forward to another 12 or so Dresden Files. April can’t come fast enough

  16. I have been a huge fan of both the Dresden Files and Codez Alera ever since my father introduced them to me. I hope they make a sequal series to Codex Alera but til then I will enjoy every bit of Harry and this new book looks amazing like all of them :D!!!
