First Lord’s Fury is #7 on the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list! Congratulations, Jim!
If you haven’t bought your copy yet, you can order one through the Jim-Butcher.com Store.
Jim is currently working on Changes, book 12 in the #1 New York Times bestselling Dresden Files series, which promises to be a game changer:
Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry Dresden’s lover-until she was attacked by his enemies, leaving her torn between her own humanity and the bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. Susan then disappeared to South America, where she could fight both her savage gift and those who cursed her with it.
Now Arianna Ortega, Duchess of the Red Court, has discovered a secret Susan has long kept, and she plans to use it-against Harry. To prevail this time, he may have no choice but to embrace the raging fury of his own untapped dark power. Because Harry’s not fighting to save the world…
He’s fighting to save his child.
Changes is due out April 6th, 2010. You can preorder it in hardback and audio formats (read by James Marsters) at the Jim-Butcher.com store.
Outstanding!! I love relating to Harry. My trials and tribulations are of a much more mundane variety than Harry’s but now Harry is also a father! I can relate to him that much more. I love it!
This are great news indeed, i cant wait to read this book. And surely, many years have passed since Susan left, child is definitely grown out the “pampers” stage by now. I definitely think that it is old enough for some magic/vampiric action scenes 😀
That is so cool:
Blade and his father – Harry Dresden! ROFL
WHAT!? KID? WHAT KID? OMG. A-hem, sorry, I’m a little excitable. Wow, I was antsy before for the release of the book, but now…I don’t what I’m going to do. Huh, I hope it all ends well. *passes out*.
Oh crap, this book can’t come any faster. can’t wit to read the next book, it”s gonna be slow with only one book a year instead of two.
I am reading the first 11 books for the second time through and they are just as good now! I picked the first 3 up at a bookstore in Toronto, ON while my son was in ICU after heart surgery and ~4 pages into the first I decided to get the rest of the books. Those books have been a wonderful escape during these stressful months! I am really looking forward to the next installment, reading the excerpt gave me goosebumps!
The kid has to be about 6 now if she was conceived in Death Masks. My B-Day is April 6th, wonder what I’ll be getting for a present!
Waaaht? A kiddo? Cool man, Tiny Goddess of all snark! This is gonna be wonderful, April cannot come quick enough……..
AAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
must…complete…time…machine
Oh and Jim, you have set the stage for a bloody melee at my local Borders. They never stock enough of your books so those that are there are the subject of a fierce battle every april. Now I am almost afraid to go get a copy of Changes. But I will.
If I don’t return, tell my family…to go get me a copy of that book!
I hope the archive is back….with a vengence. this series is by far the best thing going in this genre. can’t wait for april. hopefully book 100 will be as good as book 1. no pressure.
Finally, Harry gets to cap the Ortegas. Yay!
Doesn’t appeal to me at all and not very creative — it’s an idea that been playing out in romance novels for generations. I’m really disappointed. I’ve been a fan of all the books and have recommended them to numerous friends. “Jumping the Shark” is not something I ever expected from Jim.
Wow, talk about knee-jerk judgments made by the underinformed. It’s just a blurb, man! Reserve your slams until you’ve read the thing, FFS.
Okay all let’s remember why we are at this site. We like or LOVE the way JB writes. If you can’t give the man a break and read it the way he want us to enjoy it.
By the way what’s wrong with a little romance with your fiction?
Congrats on the NYT ranking, Jim!!
Can’t wait for Changes as well… you keep writing stuff this good, and by the Apocolyptic Dresdenverse ending, you’ve got a GREAT chance at hitting that #1!
Where does it say the child is a girl?
Jim mentioned that in a spoiler he dropped a while back
i cannot freakin wait for this book! i am way way excited!!! these books get better and better with every book!! harry is my hero!! thanks for bringing him to life Mr. Butcher!
several things here…Mr. B, has by an far, kept the tone of his book about Harry, when so many of my other favorite others have deviated, (last night I startled my wife awake because I cursed out the author I was reading when I finished the book). He’s also already included kids in his books before, and worked them round it very well, or worked the book round them (However you want to look at it). I’ve liked every book so far, loved several of them…looking forward to how it goes from here. (and considering some of the drivel I’ve read that’s high compliments)
This teaser is proof that Jim is a very evil man.
