FLF a bestseller, plus the skinny on Changes!

First Lord’s Fury is #7 on the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list! Congratulations, Jim!
If you haven’t bought your copy yet, you can order one through the Jim-Butcher.com Store.
Jim is currently working on Changes, book 12 in the #1 New York Times bestselling Dresden Files series, which promises to be a game changer:

Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry Dresden’s lover-until she was attacked by his enemies, leaving her torn between her own humanity and the bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. Susan then disappeared to South America, where she could fight both her savage gift and those who cursed her with it.
Now Arianna Ortega, Duchess of the Red Court, has discovered a secret Susan has long kept, and she plans to use it-against Harry. To prevail this time, he may have no choice but to embrace the raging fury of his own untapped dark power. Because Harry’s not fighting to save the world…
He’s fighting to save his child.

Changes is due out April 6th, 2010. You can preorder it in hardback and audio formats (read by James Marsters) at the Jim-Butcher.com store.

  1. (crying like a 3 year old who was told that he can’t have any more candy)
why jim do you do this us? My doctor is considering the mentel ward at the locol hosbitle and no more books by certin people.

  2. WHAT?! Jim has got babies on the brain. Babies in Alera, babies in chicago… I swear if Dresden buys one of those baby carrying harnesses i’m going to flip

  3. I cannot wait for this book to come out. Having a child will definately “Change” things. What kind of badass will this kid be (Half Vampire/Wizard)? I will be getting an early birthday gift!

  4. It cant be a baby though, Seth, if it’s Susan’s…she’s been out of the series for years (real time AND Dresedenverse). Someone below said maybe 6, but I thought maybe 8 or 9??????

  5. At least we know the “Changes” won’t be to messy diapers! :0)

  6. I’d like to see Harry tap into that dark power. The kid provides a good reason for Harry to break a rule or three.

  7. All I can say is better have more Bob. One lousy bit in the last book left a very unsatisfied feeling in me.

  8. I have the feeling this book will see Harry seeing the line he shouldn’t cross. Then diving across it anyway.. bring hell on earth to who ever is in his path…… AWESOME 😀

  9. Hell’s holy stars and freaking stones shit bells!!!!! And what else can I say that hasn’t been said by anyone else? I CANNOT FREAKING WAIT!!!!!

  10. I think someone forgot to tell Hos not to go into battle without wearing his helmet. Does that technology fail around wizards too? I cannot wait for “Changes” to come out in April. In regards to Isabell and her “shark jumping”…People thought that when Harry took an apprentice too. That turned out pretty good as I recall. 🙂

  11. Holy Jehosaphat! Dresden and Susan got a Kid! I can not wait until this book comes out. I became a fan after watching the TV series, read Storm Front and said WOW these book are Great. Then my 20year old son became a fan too! The wait is for the new book is almost too much! What a great story teller Jim Butcher is!

  12. Maybe we’ll see a descendant of Incan kings in need of fencing lessons? Big fan JB keep fighting the good fight.

  13. it kinda looks like there’s bodies in the background and harry’s looking for more things to burn or shoot

  14. This could be very interesting. Jim’s done a great job with Dresden to this point and I doubt he’ll let us down now. I am wondering if we’ll see the return of Michael anytime soon? He was pretty banged up at the end of the last book.

  15. The covers only have a tenuous connection to the content of the book as a general rule. This artist put a hat on him back when the publisher (not Jim) started using him for the covers (around book #7, so 5 books ago), because hat is code for private eye or something. It’s stuck around ever since.

  16. EEEEKKKKK!!!!! Harry has a kid! OMG can not wait until April! Somebody get me a time machine and a paper bag to breathe into! Hyperventilation! What will Murphy say?!?!?!?!?
