Forum Status

As many of you have noticed, the forum is down. It should be back within the next 24 hours.
Fred explains:

My provider has decided, again, that there’s a problem with the amount of use the site sees. They’re going to be upgrading my account and (probably) moving it to a new server that gives me a bigger share of the resources. This could mean we’ll be down for around a day.

Thank you for your patience!

Small Favor and Comic Update

The fourth and final Small Favor sample chapter has been posted! Read them all here, then discuss them here on the forum.
Eager to get your hands on a copy of Small Favor? You can preorder it from Amazon through the Jim-Butcher.com store in hardcover or in audio format, performed by James Marsters. Both are due out April 1st–and that’s no joke! (You can also pick up the Captain’s Fury audio book, performed by Kate Reading and released March 27th.)
Alternately, you can also participate in The Signed Page’s Small Favor Virtual Signing! If you don’t mind waiting a few extra days, you can get a copy of the book signed and personalized by Jim. On that website, you can also find a list of all the cities Jim will be touring to promote Small Favor. Hope to see you there!
On the graphic novel front, we finally have a release date for the first issue of “Welcome to the Jungle”: April 16th! Check out Diamond’s Comic Shop Locator to find the retailer nearest you. We encourage fans to fill out this form and bring it to their local retailer to ensure they get a copy of the book. The best way to make sure these books keep coming out is to buy the Single issues at your local comic shop!
“Welcome to the Jungle” is a four-issue prequel to Storm Front written by Jim Butcher and penciled by Ardian Syaf. Inks are by Joe Pimentel, and the covers are by Ardian Syaf and Chris McGrath. Find out more (and check out the cover art) on the forum!
Also, if you have questions for the Dabel Brothers that you would like to hear asked on the Butcher Block podcast, you have ONE MORE WEEK to submit them! Details here.

A Call For Comic Questions!

The next episode of The Butcher Block will feature a Q&A with a representative from the Dabel Brothers, publishers of the upcoming Dresden Files comic, and we’d like to hear from YOU!
Call 301-6377-HAT (301-637-7428). After Fred’s message plays and you get the beep, tell us your name (and/or your forum name) and where you’re calling from, then give us your questions for the Dabel crew! Alternately, you can record your question yourself (we recommend Audacity) and email the file to thebutcherblock AT gmail DOT com.
If you’d rather your question be read by Fred, you can still post questions in this thread or email them to thebutcherblock AT gmail DOT com.
Deadline for submissions is Monday, February 25th.
We invite everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to get involved and be heard on the podcast!

Comic News Roundup

It’s time to secure your copy of the first issue of the Dresden Files comic! “Welcome to the Jungle” is a four-issue prequel to Storm Front, written by Jim Butcher and illustrated by Ardian Syaf. Issue #1 is due out in April.
If you plan on buying the issue from your local comic book retailer, print out this form and bring it to them so that they can order and reserve a copy for you. The Diamond Comics Order Code is FEB083657.
Know that the BEST way to make sure these books keep coming out is to buy the single issues at your local comic shop, and pre-ordering is the best way to make sure the retailer orders the book for you. Not sure where the find a comic book retailer near you? Go to Diamond’s website and fill in your zip code.
You can also preorder the Trade Hardback containing the full four-issue prequel from Amazon.com! Published by the Dabel Brothers in partnership with Del Rey, its release date is set at October 7th.
Finally, to whet your appetite, we have a second preview page from the Dabel Brothers’ Dresden graphic novel! Click the image for a larger version.

Twisted father figures, betrayal, and damsels in distress…in a Very Special Issue of The Dresden Files. Mmm, flashbacky-licious. Discuss it here.

Two-Hour Pilot to air in the US

On March 8th, the Sci-Fi Channel is finally broadcasting the unaired pilot in the US! This two-hour cut of “Storm Front” made its debut on Canada’s Space network last month. Unfortunately, it’s slated for 3AM. I think this is why they invented TiVO.
