“Changes” is released today!
Unfortunately, it’s still not yet available for Kindle, but we hope Penguin and Amazon will resolve their differences before too long. We invite folks to share their thoughts on the forum, but please, confine your remarks to the “Spoilers” section, and always place clear warnings in the subject line when creating a new Changes-related thread. Remember that many of Jim’s fans don’t or can’t read the book the day it’s released, so please be cautious and courteous of your fellow posters.
If you haven’t gotten your copy yet, you can order it through the Jim-Butcher.com store!
And yes, there will be more books in the Dresden Files series. Jim has plans for at least 20 total!

Its amazing!!!!!!
First..!!!
I sent an angry note to the publisher to get the kindle thing sorted out. I don’t care how much the book costs, I’ll pay it, dear lord. I paid 500 bucks for my super-sized kindle and I wanna use it to read this book, the greatest literature ever created by a human in the history of the Earth…. 🙂
I love Jim, but jeez… posts like that might go to his head.
Chuck Norris couldn’t even break through Harry Dresden’s shield bracelet… But regarding JIm’s ego, I’ll just say that if Jim talked in his sleep and someone wrote it down, it’d be an immediate best seller. Just sayin’…
Can you all post word when the book’s available for the Barnes and Noble ebook store as well? As a Nook owner I would very much like to purchase it there. Thanks much and looking forward to reading! 🙂
Jim,
Please if you can, in the future allow the publisher to put your new releases out on the kindle/nooks. I’ve read all of your books on the kindle and I was quite upset to not be able read the book on the kindle.
I’m fine with paying the hardcopy price of ~$20 (even though amazon sold it for $10) on the new releases. Instead of having the book on my kindle, I went and bought a hard copy version at 8am and the book is absolutely fantastic.
I’m going to have to purchase it a second time for my kindle (which could be the publishers plan here)as your books are always awesome to re-read.
Hey folks good news for those of you who are audiobook fans. Audible released Changes, Blood Rites, and Dead Beat today! No waiting until the 15th 😀
I own all the books and changes is the best one yet, I started jumping up and down when it arrived. An amazing series and I cant wait for the next one. (Make it as quick as humanly possible you left us all hanging with the ending there Jim!)
Thanks so much Jason for letting us know about the audiobook thing. I have been saving up my credits for months!
done and done and done! book is great i want the next one even more than i wanted this one i think……..!
I’m currently deployed to Afghanistan and got hooked on the series. So I was disappointed to find that this book isn’t available for my kindle on the release date. I mean, I bought the kindle just for this deployment cause I tend to run out of books, or have no space. I hope they resolve thier conflicts soon. I would order a paper-back or hard cover copy, if the mail service out here was more timely(last amazon order was 2 months) or treated things better.
Jim. You are an entirely unfair man. i buy the book, read it through, and ten seconds later (after i came to terms with the ending) i wanted the next one. That is how amazing this book was. Very, Very well done. (can i please read the next one now? PLEASE!?)
the book was extremely good
and like everyone else has said, I really wish i had the next one at this point, though I was somewhat confused as to the fact of whether there would be a next one, what with the ending.
Sherlock Holmes, anyone?
p.s. It that was supposed to be the end of the series, I think I would’ve had to destroy something expensive.
The 13th book comes out in one year.
And there’s a short story collection landing towards the end of this year (Side Jobs).
You can add me to the list of people who are inordinately frustrated with Penguin. The lack of availability in any format beyond ePub also shuts out the iPhone/iPad/iTouch users . . .
I have been a long time fun of Jim’s and just purchased Changes. I am only a few chapters in, and that was in the Barnes and Nobles parking lot. I almost got a speeding ticket going home to continue reading. Keep em coming Jim
This pisses me off. I know its not Jim’s fault, but I don’t understand why Penguin will allow Amazon to sale the hardcover discounted at $9.99, but is getting all pissy with them discounting ebooks for the same price. They make far more money on an ebook that doesn’t have be be printed, warehoused, shipped, etc. Makes me not want to by any books from Penguin. I was planning on having the book on my Kindel today.
Sorry, just venting. Would love to be able to read Changes today!
jim you are equal parts genious and evil, changes is a fantastic book (thats the genious part) the ending though (thats the evil part) how could u do that you bad man, i hope the next one comes out soon. keep up the good work!
WHAT THE HELL?! This isn’t the last book in the series, is it??? Please please please please please don’t end the series on this. That would be entirely unfair.
Jim, you evil, sadistic, brilliant, wonderful, evil, genius. Congrats. Changes is by far the best Dresden Files book yet. It’s better than the first eleven combined, which is really saying something. Just a success on every conceivable level. The sense of scale was incredible, and it was a total game changer – I don’t see how any of the (hopefully many) Dresden novels to come can bear more than a superficial resemblance to the first eleven. There must have been a at least a dozen jaw-dropping moments throughout Changes (BTW, I guess you weren’t kidding about that title Jim) and as for that ending! Stab. Twist. Next spring can’t get here nearly soon enough you sadistic bastard. One request from a cat lover – please resolve Mister’s Fate in the next book.
